HOLIDAY HAIRSTYLES: HOW TO CREATE A SPARKLY TWIST

Here's what you'll need to create this holiday hairstyle:

Start by curling your hair with a one inch curling iron. (For tips and tricks on how to use a curling iron check out this blog post.) You want to maximize your volume for this look. But how do you give your hair more volume? It’s simple: curl your hair towards the back of your head and away from your face. Once complete add a little texture to your hair with a texturizing spray. Our pick? Style on Steroids.

Now that you have your foundation to create this party hairstyle, pull back the top section of your hair and secure with a small clear elastic into a low hanging ponytail. To boost volume at the crown even more, use a firm + flexible hairspray like Cult Favorite. Then section all of your hair into three parts (the ponytail should be part of your middle section). Take the entire middle section of your hair and french braid it until you reach the nape of your neck, then secure the braid in place with another elastic. The braid should sit against your scalp like a traditional french braid.

Then to create the twist, take the top layer from your left section of hair and wrap it over the braid, securing it in place with a pin. Secure the layer with hairspray. Cut a piece of sparkly wire that fits the back of your head, then secure a bobby pin to each side of the wire. Next, secure the wire to your hair using those pins. You can hide the pins under the wrapped layer of hair.

Continue the twist by taking the top layer from the right section of hair, wrapping it over the braid and pinning in place. Repeat this process, alternating between the left and right sides, until you reach the nape of the neck. Add additional sparkly wire accents when desired.

When you reach this point take a small section of hair and wrap it around the remaining hair to create a low ponytail. Secure in place with a pin. To finish the look secure a piece of sparkly wire into the base of the ponytail and wrap it around, securing the end in place with an additional clear elastic.
