CUTE SUMMER HAIRSTYLES

While Memorial Day Weekend might be the unofficial start of summer party season, the Fourth of July is without a doubt the main event. And considering this might be your first big-ish get together with friends and fam since lockdown, what better moment to go all out with a super cute summer hairstyle? To help you start the party off with a major bang, we’ve rounded up our fave easy summer hairstyles (from simple braids to space buns), courtesy of Color Wow Global Artistic Director Joseph Maine (@josephmaine), that are sure to last you all the way through the grand finale.

Easy Summer Hairstyles: BABE WAVES

I mean, what’s more summertime classic than some beachy waves? To create this soft wave pattern, Joseph uses Trademark Beauty’s Babe Waves Jumbo. And, of course, a mermaid-y look like this is incomplete if it doesn’t glisten. To give this look the ultimate glow, Joseph finishes with a misting of Color Wow Extra Shine Spray.

Easy Summer Hairstyles: CURLS, CURLS, CURLS

If you’re a straight-hair girl looking to seriously change it up, this one is SO worth it. Fair warning, it’s quite time consuming, but if you’re not hosting, why not, right?? Joseph’s key tools for achieving such voluminous curls? Color Wow Style on Steroids Texturizing Spray (serious texture and volume is a must!) and a ½ inch curling iron to get those tight ringlets. For a softer finish, gently comb out your curls once they’ve cooled completely.

Psst… curly girls, we didn’t forget about you. For some oomph on your natural curls, use Dream Coat for Curly Hair, a one-and-done styler that’ll give you voluminous, defined, crunch-free, and frizz-free curls.

Easy Summer Hairstyles: Simple Braids - Two Ways

Braids are the perfect complement to summer because they not only look cool, but they keep you cool. But if you’re looking for a break from the typical French braid, Joseph’s got some super cute styles for you to try.

REVERSE BRAID CROWN

If you’re known for throwing your hair into a low ponytail or bun, try adding a touch of flare by turning it into a reverse crown braid. It still gets your hair off of your neck (major bonus for that mid-summer heat) without putting too much extra effort into it.

FRENCH BRAIDED UPDO

Or, if you’re a fan of French braids, try this braided updo which requires exactly one extra step: flip the end of your braid up and pin it to the back of your head. Who said looking this good had to be hard?

Pro braid tips: To make braiding easier on yourself, Color Wow Pop & Lock Glossing Serum is a MUST. Apply it throughout your hair before braiding to give your strands grip for easy, flyaway-free braiding. Check out our Braid Aid page for more helpful braid stylers. Another tip: If you want to make your braids appear fuller, use the pancaking method to fatten each braid loop (learn more about braid pancaking here).

Easy Summer Hairstyles: SPACE BUNS

Who said fireworks had to be the 4th of July’s main attraction? Not with these space buns around! If you have long hair and lots of it, this look is a godsend for getting your strands out of your face and keeping you cool. It’s also perfect if you’re working with second-day hair because the “dirtiness” of your hair will create much needed grit and staying power. On freshly washed hair, use Style on Steroids to add in grit and texture.
